B&G has been a performance partner of the Offshore Challenges Sailing Team since 2001 when Ellen MacArthur set off to race single-handedly, non-stop around the world in the Vendée Globe. Her Open 60 ‘Kingfisher’ was the first OC yacht B&G fitted with a bespoke B&G instrument and autopilot system and there were more to come…
Ellen went on to set a new world record onboard her 75ft trimaran of 71 days, 14 hours, 18 minutes and 33 seconds, becoming the fastest solo sailor around the planet. B&Q was fitted with a B&G Hercules system and dual autopilots all of which underwent serious sea trials and calibration prior to her departure.

Offshore Challenges Sailing Team is composed of some serious sailing talent including Nick Malone and most recently Sebastian Jose, both of whom join Ellen in the BT Team Ellen project.
