Key West Report

Date: 2/6/2008

Another successful and competitive regatta supported by B&G.

Come January everyone’s focus falls on the warm waters and competitive racing of Key West Race Week. The B&G sponsored 2008 regatta, which has just come to a close did not disappoint. Despite a worrying two out of the initial three days being cancelled due to bad weather, the sun started to shine and the wind eased to a steady 12 knot northerly come day four.

In the Farr 40 fleet there was much rejoicing aboard ‘Barking Mad’ who finished on joint points with ‘Mascalzone Latino’ but took first place on count back. Daniel Meyers’ new Judel/ Vrolijk 66-footer ‘Numbers’ won IRC Class 1 with ‘Flash Glove’, a TP52 owned by Colm Barrington coming in second, both boats were running B&G WTP2 systems.

A testament to B&G’s International Regatta Support commitment Mike Sugden, part of the B&G Regatta Support Team, arrived on the dock two days prior to racing to ensure that all B&G competitors had technical help and support prior to and during racing. Bob Congdon and Matt Fries of Navico Inc were also on-site supporting the fleets and offering unrivalled service to all B&G boats.
