B&G® Announced as Technical Partner for The Fastnet 500

In partnership with the Royal Western yacht Club

Southampton, UK - B&G®, the world’s leading sailing navigation and instrument specialist today announced their partnership with the Royal Western Yacht Club (RWYC), providing technical support for the key offshore races in 2021 including the Fastnet 500 and Wolf Rock Race. Kicking off on July 4th 2021 the Fastnet 500 is a brand new offshore race which will run bi-annually, alternating with the Original Lonely Rock Race.

B&G®are thrilled to be offering a fantastic prize table of electronics vouchers, up to the value of £10000. B&G® has already been providing competitors with expert technical advice, Matt Eeles, Product Director B&G®delivered an online seminar to members of the club focusing on instruments, radar, sonar and cartography, enabling participants to get the most out of their electronics on-board.  The RWYC’s Rear Commodore Oceanic, Adrian Gray said, “It is great to be able to announce our partnership with B&G for the second season running. We had a fantastic response to their support during the Original Lonely Rock Race 2020 in what were very difficult times. Following their multi-faceted support last season, including sponsoring the weather briefing by Miles Seddon and an online presentation to our club members on a virtual club night, B&G® are proving themselves to be great club partners and we look forward to building the relationship as we head towards the Fastnet 500 2021”.

At around 500 miles long, this is a race with 4 challenging segments. The Fastnet 500 will start in Plymouth Sound, exit via the Western Entrance of Plymouth Sound, round the Fastnet Rock to port, pass the Isles of Scilly to port and then finish between the Breakwater Lighthouse. Entries will be open to MOCRA, IMOCA, Class40, Mini Transat, IRC, single-handed, 2-handed and 1/2crew.
