B&G Announce Sponsorship of the Brian Black Memorial Award

An award for outstanding marine environmental journalism, in association with Yachting Monthly 

Southampton, UK - B&G®, the world’s leading sailing navigation and instrument specialist today announced their support of the Yachting Monthly Brian Black Memorial Award, a brand new award seeking to recognise an outstanding contribution in marine environmental journalism. The award is in memory of Brian Black, a television journalist and lifelong sailor, contributor to Yachting Monthly and passionate advocate for the marine environment. The judging panel includes Mike Golding OBE, Dee Caffari MBE, Dr Robert Brown OBE, Sarah Brown, and the Yachting Monthly editorial team. The award will be presented at the 2021 Southampton Boat Show.

The judging panel will be looking for inspiring and emotive content, supported by beautiful photography, to educate on a particular environmental issue in which they are passionate about. “We are delighted to have B&G as sponsor for the new Brian Black Memorial Award, and it shows how seriously sailors and industry are now taking stewardship of the marine environment. It is great to see a company like B&G leading the way in addressing their environmental impact and we look forward to others following suit. There are some fantastic prizes on offer, with a prize fund of £3,000, £2,000 going to the winner, and £1,000 going to their environmental marine charity of choice. Yachting Monthly will also be publishing the winners work in their magazine and online. The award is open for admissions up until the 8th August, it must be the original work of the author and not have been previously published.
